A MOVEMENT TOWARDS PROGRESSION
Jesse's gone, Al's gone, but the black movement continues.
On Nov. 2, 2007, Warren Ballentine, Reverend Al Sharpton and other civil rights leaders are calling for a national boycott. They are calling this the next stage in the Jena 6 movement. The blackout movement is designed for African- Americans to test their economic spending power by refusing to buy goods or products in what some may consider a white patriarch society.
Warren Ballentine 'The People's Attorney' and radio 'Truth Fighter' said, "Black people alone spend 2 billion dollars a day in the United States and we are only approximately 12% of the population—2 billion dollars a day, lining the pockets of companies that have shown no interest in our interests. We are living in the new civil rights movement."
"Present injustices are being allowed and accepted in America rightnow,"Ballentine said. "From the situation with Mychal Bell and the Jena 6, Genarlow Wilson, Megan Williams, and all of the nooses being hung all over America lately."
Many people have conflicting views about what they think about the blackout movement. A young man from Compton said, as a black man, I understand how we should support our own, but you are a fucking idiot. Why would I not go out and buy shit on November 1, 2, 3? I live in Compton. What the fuck did crackers do to them boys in Jena? Ya'll are the reason why racism is truly alive. Fuck you hick ass Uncle Tom niggers. Ya'll are just trying to bring up race issues now because your punk ass parents didn't march with Dr. King or Malcolm X...I suppose you all are going to be blacking shit out for T.I as well...He's innocent as well, he only tried to buy a few thousand dollars worth of machine guns."
There have also been many cases that get over looked, or maybe know one cares.
There is the woman in West Virginia who was raped and tortured for days with barely any national coverage. The young groom in New york, Sean Bell, who was murdered by the NYPD on the eve of his wedding. How about the teenage girl who was sprayed with mace for missing curfew? You can see her in the video restrained by a police officer twice her size. She was in handcuffs when she was sprayed
Those are just a few instances where people in this country have been treated unfairly, while 4 young men in Raleigh, NC sue the state for 10 million dollars each because they were 'falsely' accused of rape. There are people who spend Years in prison and are executed.
Black people standing by a movement is very important in todays society.
